Adapted from Abbé Prévosts infamous novel, Kenneth MacMillans soaring ballet brings to life the story of Manon Lescaut, a beautiful young woman torn between her love for the poet Des Grieux and her desire for money and attention. Set against the moral corruption of 18th century Paris, the cast of complex characters also includes the callous Monsieur GM, the swaggering Jailer, Manons roguish brother and his coquettish Mistress. At the heart of the ballet are the duets MacMillan created for Manon and Des Grieux, which are among the most emotionally intense and passionately charged ever choreographed.
