Este 23 de noviembre se entregarán en Los Ángeles los American Music Awards(AMA), representando 43 años de competencia directa con los Grammy. He aquí algunos datos que igual y no sabías sobre esta entrega de premios.

– A diferencia de los Grammy, el público (y no una Academia) vota por las diferentes categorías de los AMA.

– Fueron creados por Dick Clark en 1973.

– Sus principales categorías con Artista del Año y Artista Nuevo del Año

– El máximo ganador de los AMA ha sido Michael Jackson con 26, seguido por Alabama con 23 y Whitney Houston con 22.

– Tanto Houston como Jackson están empatados como los artistas con más AMAs ganados en un mismo año con 8. La primera se los ganó en 1994 y el segundo exactamente 10 años antes.

– Los votantes eligieron en el año 2000 a las siguientes personas como artistas de su respectiva década:

  • Elvis Presley en los 50
  • Los Beatles en los 60
  • Loretta Lynn en los 70
  • Michael Jackson en los 80
  • Garth Brooks en los 90
  • Eminem y Amy Winehouse (empate) en los 00

Pero la edición del 2014 pinta para darnos varios momentos memorables. Checa lo que se espera:

– Se premiará a los artistas en los géneros Pop/Rock, Country, Rap/Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Rock Alternativo, Adulto Contemporáneo, Latino, Inspiracional Contemporánea, Electrónico y Dance.

– También se le dará AMA al mejor soundtrack y, por primera vez, al Sencillo del Año.

– Armando Christian Pérez será el anfitrión… Es decir, Pitbull.

– Las actuaciones en vivo serán de Charli XCX, Pitbull, Iggy Azalea, MØ, Taylor Swift, 5 Seconds of Summer, Sam Smith, Mary J. Blige, Lorde, Fergie, T.I., Iggy Azalea, One Direction, Selena Gomez, Imagine Dragons, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Meghan Trainor y Garth Brooks.

– Los principales nominados son: Iggy Azalea (6); John Legend, Pharell Williams y Katy Perry (5 cada uno); Lorde (4); y Beyoncé, Eminem, Imagine Dragons y One Direction (3 cada uno).
