Matiss Zelcs, employee of the Latvian national archive in Riga, one night notices a woman on a bridge. After passing without preventing her from her suicidal fall into the depth, the sensation of failure and guilt changes his life. Driven by the feeling of remorse, day and night he strays through the city looking for traces of her existence. This journey through the tumult of his conscience leads him deeper into his own loneliness and depths of his soul, while he gets entangled more and more with the destiny of the woman and the people who where attached to her. He finds himself confronted with the cruelty of love and lust, of guilt and the hunt for forgiveness, release and salvation.
